Peregrine Falcon 29 days old
The DAY 29 visit was entertaining. The chick had grown a lot in the last week and was alone when I arrived. After a few minutes dad flew in and they spent a few minutes together. He did many wing flaps and several little ‘fly hops’ presumably encouraging the chick to try the same and then flew away. In the next few minutes the chick tried out these small ‘fly hops’. A short time later mum flew in for a visit and after a few minutes flew off again.
About 30 minutes later both parents flew in at the same time with dad carrying a small bird. The mother took the bird and fed the chick whilst the father flew off and circled around for a while. The chick is almost the size of the father and is tearing the prey apart with the mother instead of just waiting to be fed.
